Sometimes, paper rolls collect in my studio, remaining unused for long periods of time before I get around to using them in a project. Such is this lovely red paper adorned with what I am calling white poppies. I have tried to retrace my steps to source more of it. At the time of this writing, I am calling this paper "gone". Maybe more will find its way to me someday. I used a gold relief paint to outline the flowers, but other than that, this purse's front design gets all its beauty from the stunning red paper. The back is an embossed flower pattern, painted bronze. Top and bottom are also in an embossed complementary pattern.
 
As I worked, the dark, rich natural tones became as dominant as the red, as did this purse's sinuous organic themes screaming: "Art Nouveau". The stationary handle is red with aged gold leaves and other nature motifs, as was popular in the Art Nouveau movement. The removable silk yarn tassel set is handmade and embellished by me. Red painted wooden feet complete the look.
 
Inside, a red poppy design lines the sides of the purse. The rest is of a subtle beige pattern on white. Bands of glittery sparkle deliver the "wow" factor. There is a small mirror attached to the inside of the lid with a German foil "sunburst" halo behind it.
