The past year has been a mix of creativity, delays and patience. A project that sat idle finally saw the light of day again, while another took on new life with fresh inspiration. This post shares a few pictorial highlights from two large scale projects.

Bringing the Bombe Chest Back to Life
One of the most satisfying moments this year was finally completing a bombe chest that had been sitting at a halfway done point for over a year.
This $60 Marketplace find had a beautiful shape but needed refinishing and some delicate repairs.

It was very chippy. Also, in order to get that curvy shape, the artisan who made it many years ago covered the sides with linen and then covered that in a kind of plaster that had begun to bubble off the wood and then crack. I used an entire container of Bondo Filler and sanded a lot. It is no wonder, after that labor intensive process, I wasn't feeling the love to continue.
Are there ever enough embellishments? No, so I added a few more.
This video shows the many design elements that I added including French textual elements, botanical and floral images, and flourishes in relief.
This ballet slipper pink bombe chest is a statement piece, blending antique charm with practical storage. I'm beyond happy with how it turned out, even with the year delay. It's for sale locally, contact me if you are interested in putting this in a cozy corner of your house or if you have questions.
Decorating a Friend’s Clock with Dobermans and Stars
This clock really does defy description. And yet it all worked splendidly. The idea was to personalize it with themes close to my friend's heart: Doberman Pinschers and celestial elements. The clock became a canvas for a unique design featuring:
Images of Dobermans in regal sitting poses, capturing their alert and elegant nature.
Stars, moons, and subtle constellations to add a dreamy, celestial vibe.
A color palette of deep blues, warm browns and gold to tie the themes together.
This project was a fun challenge because it combined two very different motifs into one cohesive piece. The clock now feels like a blend of loyalty and mystery, perfect for a friend who loves both dogs and the night sky.

Combining Themes to Tell a Story
What made these projects special was the way they told stories through design. The bombe chest speaks of patience and craftsmanship, while the clock tells a story of a loyal canine throughout shared time in this lifetime. Using Dobermans and celestial themes was not something I initially saw for this clock. But it worked out so well. Sometimes, a project needs to wait until the right moment or when inspiration strikes. Other times, combining unexpected themes can lead to something truly unique.
Looking Ahead
Reflecting on these projects, I am definitely of the mind to add my creative touches to more housewares, decor items and furniture. Look for more of these types of items from me in 2026.
I am sincerely thankful to my friends here for their unwavering support in my work. I wish you a delightful holiday season and hope all your aspirations for 2026, both creative and beyond, are fulfilled.
